2010 Winter Olympics 2nd week pictures
As the energy spilled into the second week, the exuberant outdoor crowd was as crazy as before but the numbers were somewhat smaller to start. Along with a little rain it was an excellent chance to see the many pavilions and the LiveCity sites as the line ups were somewhat shorter. Even the madness outside the Bay superstore was shortened as people were loading up on Olympic souvenirs like it's going out of style. For months leading up to the games, Quatchi, Miga, Mukmuk and Sumi were just another stuffed animal collecting dust but in this past two weeks, they're flying off the shelves as everybody wants them!!
As the weekend arrived the sun was shining bright and crowd was back in full force and stronger than ever before. By this time the athletes were achieving gold status in record numbers making everyone believers. From moving stories such the first gold claimed by Alex Bilodeau to Joannie Rochette's emotional bronze, the Canadian pride was ever growing. To feel the atmosphere first hand on Robson Square was such a treat, this lifetime experience was absolutely stunning. But as we all witnessed, it wasn't until Sidney Crosby's gold medal goal on the world class stage, the country exploded with patriotism!! From the Pacific across the land to the Atlantic coast, it is beyond belief what these games achieved. This could not of been scripted any better for Canadians, this story book ending concluded with golden moments that were not only awe inspiring, it captivated and bonded the entire nation!!
May this legacy live on!!

2010 Winter Olympics 1st week pictures
These pictures are from the torch relay leading up to the opening ceremonies and pics of those pavilions and other entertainment areas we have seen. Pavilions include the Mint, Canada, Saskatchewan, Richmond Ozone, BC and others with more to come as I visit them.
Other pics are obviously the Olympic rings at Stanley Park that become gold when we win gold and the cauldron at Jack Poole Place. The crowd pics are mostly of downtown Vancouver, Robson Square Granville street area and the Olympic Village.
For years the city has been criticized of being a "No Fun City" but the critics are now silent. Perhaps they should even reconsider changing the name to "Funcouver" as you really need to be here to see yourself. The line ups to some of the events and pavilions are insane and the people are really buzzed with Olympic craze. This event has brought everyone together with many smiles and is gaining momentum with the hockey tournament under way. Of the 40 plus years that I have lived in this city, never have I witness the crowds that we possess right now which is absolutely electrifying!!
