Blood and Debauchery with Bison at the Sweatshop
- shawn lennon
Friday March 28th The Sweatshop hosted a fine evening of rock 'n roll, skating and debauchery as Bison, The China Creeps, and Grass City played to a packed skatepark on Vancouver's east side. Beer and blood spilled into the night as fans enjoyed a thorough installment of what could very well be Canadian rock history in the making.
Grass City started things off with a lavish display of thundering riffs topped with a hint of Skynard creating a sound that makes you want to buy a motorcycle and drive south on a crime spree. The China Creep were as creepy as ever, powering through a classic set while defiling a blow up doll under a hail of beer cans. And Bison pleased all ears as a band with one of the most refreshing sounds around, combining decades of riff driven evolution and what must be a generous intake of virgins blood. That's the only explanation for a band that destroys to this proportion.
The Sweatshop is open to skate or shop from 1pm to 10 pm daily and info on special events can be found here. A venue like this provides a great service to the community so be sure to drop in and show your support. With Fridays line up and The Flatliners, The Rebel Spell, The Vicious Cycles, The Hycoprits playing on April 7th it won't be long before most will find them selves just east of Victoria dr and Hastings enjoying this great multipurpose facility.
