The 4th Annual Vancouver Island Salmon Classic Derby will be taking place on August 31st and September 1st, 2013, attracting anglers from all over the world to fish in one of North America’s most fertile fishing grounds. Sign up now for your chance to fish and win up to $38,400!
This year the competition will be open to a maximum of just forty teams so make sure to sign up early. The entry fee is $2,500 per team, that’s just $625 per person for a team of four! The balance of the entry fee for all teams is payable by July 1st.
There will be a calcutta, raffle and 50/50 draw at the derby. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity focused on the protection and enhancement of the local salmon fishery (charity yet to be announced).
Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina is committed to supporting the local fishery. As in previous years a donation will be made on the last day of the event to a local salmon habitat charity. Last year we donated $1,140 to the Sooke Salmon Enhancement Society. Our work with the local hatchery and restoration groups will help to ensure that the Salmon populations are not overfished and will thrive for the future generations to enjoy.
