The City Skateboards/Antisocial video premiere that happened on the 27th went down really well. Vancouver's own Russ Miligan showed up to absorb and contribute to the hype. His part was really quite amazing (very tech switch control). While his part (and others) was filmed primarily in the Bay Area; close to City headquarters, there was also quite a few familiar Vancouver spots showcased throughout. Dave Bachinsky and Jeremy Reeves also have noteable sections too, both with the open and the closing slots equally owned. Good editting with a fast pace and enjoyable soundtrack will keep this DVD in your player for more than one viewing. There was a solid turnout too -quite a treat seeing as it was a rare dry day at the time of showing. The DVD will be released in full, shortly, on thecitystreets.com Jimmy Miller

Until We Get Leeside. This temporary installation opened 01/13/06 at Anti Social Skateshop's gallery as an awareness art-piece. It's dedicated to the memories of Lee Matasi and Rachel Davis, two Vancouver skaters who senselessly lost their lives to hand guns. Hopefully this shop-addition will primarily shed light on the lack of gun control in Vancouver (via publicity), and secondly offer an under-cover skatespot for downtown enthusiasts (just like a reconstructed concrete Leeside would).

It was Rick [McCrank]'s first time skating it. We had a fun crew and Guns and Roses was playing, stoked! |
