Hi there! My family and I are the proud owners of the red Honda Prelude that was abandoned at Sombrio Beach. Very interesting to find out that it was on your website. It was stolen from my work on Oct 9 and we got it back about a week after your pictures were taken. No it was not the continuation of a domestic dispute as the RCMP and the towing company thought. It was just some people who needed a ride up to Sombrio I guess, and left it sitting there for a month. It was kind of irritating that it probably wasn't the people that stole the vehicle that vandalized it, but the people who frequent Sombrio Beach. So I appreciate the piece you said about vandalism.
The paint came off pretty easily, luckily my husband paints cars for a living and was able to take it off with a chemical. It damaged the paint a bit by making it bubble in spots but other than that it's OK. The inside was absolutely disgusting though. Mice had made a home and it was sopping wet. But we got the inside detailed and it cleaned right up. We felt very lucky that it wasn't torched or smashed. We are just happy that we got it back because we really needed the car. Anyway, thank you for your article and you can let everyone know that the car is for sale for $2000, (due to fancy, original artwork), Sincerley,
The owners of the abandoned red car
UPDATE:Dec/2005 Rumor has it this car was misappropriated and dumped and the messages may be a continuation of a domestic situation. It seems that although this one may look like a duck it's starting to quack more like a rhinoceros.
Apparently, RCMP are investigating.
May we take this moment to remind people not to shit where they eat.
comment/trick: Unfortunate reality, welcome to Canada, now...

Just thought you might take a look at these pics taken this last weekend at the sombrio parking lot. Not sure what prompted this hero to do this but this is about as weak as it gets. What's almost as bad is how'd they get away with it, when there's always people hanging out in the lot - were there people just watching it go down?
I know nothing about it and no one in the lot knew anything and we waited around for the owner to show but it gets boring sitting around in the rain.
Is this terrorism? I don’t like to assume, but its only natural - in order for things like this to make sense we usually come up with a scenario to explain it. It may be a harmless prank (it wasn’t typical spray paint, it wiped away with a little bit of effort, plus the ‘slut bag’ on the rear window suggests something beyond just surfing). But if in fact it was intimidation through anonymous vandalism of private property then of course it doesn’t get much sleazier and needs to be addressed. I believe a public forum like yours may be the correct first step, and the public needs to be involved, instead of pretending its not happening in order to avoid confrontation.
