With the recent announcement by Western Forest Products that they will sell some coastal blocks of property surfers have come to the realization that we could lose existing ready access to the point at Jordan River, BC.

♠ *rumour has it that Chip Wilson [ Lululemon] has offered 20 million for the parcel including the point at JR. His idea is to keep the land preserved as it is. The only addition would be a center somewhere for people to study ecology, art and movement. The only thing is that someone offered 50 million for 4 parcels and he only wants 1 for 20 million. according to his real estate agent, w.f.p would obviously like to sell it all for 50 mil.

No idea if this land would be held in trust, privately, or given to the people of the CRD, BC, or Canada.

this land sale is not limited to Jordan River. Lands around Sooke Potholes, Muir Creek, Port Renfrew and many other places are for sale; WFP asked to have several thousand hectares of land from Sooke to Cape Scott removed from the tree farm, and much of that land is now for sale. (The figure mentioned at the Friday night meeting was 2800 hectares, I don't know if that is correct; it is more than earlier estimates though as WFP is now also selling lands that were never in the tree farm) . 45% of all land in the Jordan River / Shirley area is now for sale. (Private deals only right now, none of it on MLS)
