Bali in July. These were taken at Dreamland by Mike Hanson during one of the biggest swells seen in the last 10 years. The whole bay was closing out with the exception of a few waves caught by the tow-in guys. The pictures definitely don't do justice to the size of waves that day.

Here are some pics from my trip to Aus in May. Started off surfing the south coast near adelaide, then to the east and surfed Wollongong, Surfer's Paradise and Byron bay.
I think my favourite was wollongong, as well as byron bay area. The south coast was barron and felt very sharky, but good waves! Surfers paradise was really fun too, the beach was very close to my hostel and the waves were pretty good on days. Ben Robinson

| SGriffiths - Brazil 06 Trip Recently spent a few weeks in Brazil. Sao Paulo is a mad city, but has some sweet beaches not far from it. With over 7000 k's of exposed coastline, Brazil has some incredible surf. Brazil is very wild west compared to here, so there's lot's of everything going on... Very few reef or point breaks, but some very good beachies. We spent around 7 days in Camburi, which is a sleepy dirt road surf town during the week and off season, and the place goes wild on weekends and holidays. 40 Bucks a night, with breakfast, right beside the beach. The ladies are smoking hot, and you have to know how to surf with others to survive the water. SG |

Baja & back, Dec-Jan 06 - Paul & Diana |
Due to ISA Junior Surfing games happening next month in Brazil i tought would be nice to send some pics of last week surfing in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
Good luck team Canada Sitkasurfboards.com
Just got back from a 6 month trip which took me to Pulau Nias (NW Sumatra, Indonesia) for 2 weeks. The last big earthquake there raised the island about 1.5 meters. The reef is now permanently above water and the ‘old’ sandy beach is about 50 meters from the ocean. Locals say that it made the break better and now it will break at smaller heights instead of just rolling past. Wicked clean wave and eight people in the water was the busiest we surfed! Check it out if your in Sumatera... super friendly people, beautiful, basically no tourists there right now and did I mention that it’s cheap as? Jake Bapty

just got back from 4 weeks in Bali and Nusa Lembongan. The waves were good, but not epic. Its still the rainy season and even though it didn't rain too much, when it does it gets very stormy. The wind can mess up the waves fairly fast. Lots of surf even still. A couple of big days, one really big day.
Everything there is so bright and colorful. Their fishing boats actually look like that. The woman in the one photo are taking sacks of cement off of the boat on their head. For $2 bucks a day that job totally sucks... The water is nice and warm, lots of monkeys everywhere lots of great surf. I went scuba diving and snorkeling when the surf was down or the tides were wrong. We saw lots of cool things, including lots of barracuda and a crap load of other fish. Nusa Lembongan is a chill little island island off of bali. There are no cars there, just scooters and there are 3 good breaks all right beside one another. The no traffic was a nice change to Bali. We rented a Suzuki Samari style jeep for about $7 USD which works out well. On Bali you are always driving around looking for the best waves and not only are you driving on the wrong side of the road, but they also drive like mad men. That and the police are always stopping you for some imaginary violation. Even though they ask for more, $5 is the most I had to pay. Every where there are these huge statues which is super cool. The burning cow is from a cremation ceremony. At first its seems a little wierd, but they make it into a big party and its chill.
Here are a few pics that I took from the few days that I took a camera out. Lots of people don't surf with reef boots, but I would have been fully worked several times without them. The one photo with the messed up skin is my arm after swimming into a Jellyfish... Other than the headache I had the first night, it didn't hurt too much. It was totally itchy for 3 days though, not to mention I looked like a freak.

Aside from bringing home a dog named Taco (story to come!), hanging with cool peeps and seeing some pretty rad landscape, this was definitely one of the most thoroughly enjoyable surf vacations ever thanks to the waves. The only dissapointment this time was realizing that no matter how remote the location, there is serious ocean pollution everywhere. Hope we get it together soon.

Southern California Dec'05 I took my two boys down to Cali for a week this month. We just caught the start of the big swell, explored up and down the SC coast and ran into Noah Cohen and Lowers too. We surfed Blacks, Lower and Upper Trestles, Church's, Oceanside and Salt Creek. The ocean for the most part cooperated, it was an awesome trip. Stephen Mayor
